A different kind of Gorilla

After one year of loyal service Redg has left Gorilla. 12 months after joining our little team, he decided that there was more to life than spend all day pushing pixels around and moved on to other ventures. I wish him all the best and thank him for a great year! We learned a lot from one another, visited cool conferences and built some great projects. Thanks Redg!

Getting some designing done

Admittedly It was a bit scary replacing Redg as a designer. He really raised the bar on design in Gorilla over the course of the last year and —allthough I designed a couple of projects— I had focussed mainly on front-end development so one might say I was a bit rusty on the visual side of things.

On the other hand I was really psyched to jump in and get some more designing done. I had the pleasure of working on a fun little project and I'm very pleased with the way it turned out.

We've got some other cool projects coming up so I'm looking forward to doing a lot more design the coming months.

Outsourcing front-end development

After Redg quit—and after I decided that I was going to spend my days designing—I was on the lookout for a good front-end developer. Enter Jochen, comfortable with Javascript, HAML, SASS, CSS3, HTML5, GIT, responsive layouts,… you name it. On top of that he's also a really nice guy.

Over the course of the last year I had installed my own quirky little front-end workflow so I had my doubts about involving another front-end developer. But Jochen stepped up and did his thing. Safe to say I'm very happy to have him on board. He moved into the Gorilla office in september and we have a cool little co-op going. I will design something and Jochen fleshes out a working prototype.

No more CMS development

Gorilla is morphing into a webdesign studio—rather than a full-service web agency—so that means that we won't be offering any more in-house CMS development.

Benny quit Gorilla (and has set up his own development shop recently) so it makes perfect sense to stop offering CMS development. Clients who need CMS development —or any other back-end development— will be forwarded to Monkeypatch or one of our other trusted freelancers.

We are looking for cool projects

Gorilla is fully booked for the coming month(s) but we're on the lookout for cool projects after that. If you need a webdesigner, or you need a small webdesign team that takes you from IA to design and a working HTML prototype, drop us a line.
